Today at work went great. So much better then yesterday. I was kinda dreading going to work this morning because of all the problems that we had the day before.
When we started work today, “O” and I stepped back and looked at what we were doing. Then we noticed that its not what we were doing, but that the carpenters that installed the metal studs did not place then in the right place.
The two carpenters that installed them thought that a quarter inch didn’t matter. Well As Iron workers installing panels that need to be within a 16Th’s of an inch, it matters
So when we moved there studs to where they needed to be our panels went up great. We got 2 and a half bays done, In 8 hours.
Hope that Monday goes as well.
Erecting Exterior Panels

To day at work, was so exhausting. I’m putting panels up at the westing house project. I love doing this work. What I’m doing is this, Im putting insulated panels on the exterior walls of the building, This is what you will see when you drive by. These panels have to line up perfectly and must have equal joints. Well the bottom panel that we have to put on first is the most critical. If this panel is off the hole wall will be off.
So long story short, these panels are a little over 11 feet long and weigh about 75lbs or so. So we get the frist panel up and screwed in place, so we move to the second panel witch is an 90 degree and both legs are about 8″ long. This panel just would not fit. We had to put it up four times before we finaly got it about where we wanted it. I was holding my end up with my sholder and O, put a clamp on his end. When O. turned to get the drill the vice grip poped off and the panel came swinging down. I was lucky enough to be able to catch it before it hit anything.
You have to understand that eaven the slightest scratch or dent and the panel is scrap. So we got the panel back into the lift and put four clamps on it and then all was fine. So when working with panels of any kind, make sure that they are tied down by something that will hold it in place no matter how long it will be there.
